Welcome to Van Wert High School! We are excited that you have chosen VWHS and are glad you’re a part of the Cougar family. It is my honor and privilege to serve as your principal.
Van Wert High School is a Project Based Learning school, which supports the belief that collaboration, support, and encouragement of the school, community, students, and parents/guardians are needed in order to fulfill our district slogan, “Cougar Pride in All You Do”.
We know that while educating students begins with the curriculum taught in the academic classroom, it is so much more than that. We continue to move forward with curriculum, assessments, and extra-curricular offerings while maintaining a strong tradition of working with our community. With a significant number of college- and career-readiness course offerings, as well as internship and STEAM opportunities, we help our students develop the necessary post-secondary skills and goals in order to be successful. This school year presents us with many challenges, and we are optimistic and confident students will have a multitude of opportunities for valuable experiences aside from academics. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities that provide multiple opportunities for students to identify their strengths, connect with others, and help them build employability skills such as leadership, civic-mindedness, teamwork, and time management skills.
