New DARE vehicle graphics revealed

Police Chief Weigle, Mrs. Trinda Keber, Gavin Gonzalez, Officer Wells, and Assistant Principal Ben Collins with the new DARE vehicle.

The Van Wert City Police Department chose artwork submitted by Gavin Gonzalez, a Van Wert Middle School 6th Grade Student, for their new DARE truck design.

Last month, Officer Wells asked for students at Van Wert Middle School to come up with a design for the new truck. With approximately 30 submissions, Gavin’s design was chosen by Chief Weigle and Officer Wells, along with Eric McCracken, who graciously donated an additional $500 to assist in having the graphics added to the truck.

Gavin received a DARE hat, t-shirt, and coat for coming up with the winning design, and also gets the honor of riding in the DARE truck with Officer Wells in an upcoming parade.
