Souper Bowl Fundraiser Flyer

The Art Club and FCCLA are teaming up to raise money for the West Ohio Food Bank (making a donation through the United Way of Van Wert County) through a new fundraiser called "Souper Bowls".

We are thankful! Students at Van Wert School at the Goedde celebrated Thanksgiving by hosting families and community partners for the second year in a row.

Band Performing at State Finals

The Van Wert Cougar Pride Marching Band earned an “Excellent”at the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) state marching band finals at Alexander Stadium in Piqua on Sunday.

History will be made at 4:45 Sunday afternoon at Piqua’s Alexander Stadium.

That’s when the Van Wert Cougar Pride Marching Band will compete in the Ohio Music Educators Association state finals for the first time ever.

The Van Wert City Police Department chose artwork submitted by Gavin Gonzalez, a Van Wert Middle School 6th Grade Student, for their new DARE truck design.

As National School Bus Safety week comes to an end, the Van Wert City School District would not only like to emphasize the importance of bus safety, but also take the time to recognize and honor the drivers who often transport more than 900 students on a daily basis.

Van Wert City Schools is proud to announce that all five buildings that make up the district have been designated as Heart Safe Schools by Project ADAM. Van Wert Elementary was the first to earn the Heart Safe Designation in March 2022.

Beginning Monday, October 17, 2022 and continuing daily through Friday, October 21, 2022, Van Wert City Schools will be coordinating a state-mandated safety drill to remain in compliance with Ohio Revised Code 3313.536 and as overseen by the Ohio School Safety Center.

Thursday, September 22, 2022 Students Get Experience with Skilled Trade
Masonry, welding, carpentry and concrete work were just some of trades area freshmen and sophomores learned about on Wednesday. 

Approximately 300 freshmen and sophomore students from seven local school districts received hands-on experience in the various building trades during Day No. 1 of the Build Your Future 2022 event, held at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds on Wednesday.

Thursday, July 28, 2022 VWFT Gives to Local Summer Programs
Mark Bagley, VWCS Superintendent; Betsy Hamman, YWCA Director of Summer Food Program; two program participants; and Chuck Rollins, VWFT President.

The Van Wert Federation of Teachers donated a total of $2,500 to two local youth summer programs.

Funded by the State of Ohio through the Department of Higher Education and operated as a program of The Ohio Academy of Science, Believe in Ohio is a STEM and entrepreneurship program that teaches students how to commercialize products and services and create business plans that are driven by innovation.

Students had to decide if they had enough money left in their monthly budget to make charitable contributions. 

Van Wert Middle School hosted a financial literacy program for students called Real Money. Real World. on Wednesday, May 4.

Months of campaigning and spreading information paid off at the polls with the passage of a bond issue to renovate and improve Eggerss Stadium in downtown Van Wert.

Van Wert City Schools was recognized with four professional Achievement Awards at the Ohio School Public Relations Association (OHSPRA) annual spring conference held in Columbus on April 28-29.
