Lady Knights leading scorer Katelyn Castle put up a first half hat trick and four total goals to lead Crestview past Van Wert 7-1 in girls soccer action on Thursday night.
It took Castle just 30 minutes to put three goals through the net to push the Knights (2-0) out to a three goal lead that the Lady Cougars were never able to recover from.
Castle used a header at the 34:53 mark to break the scoreless tie, and followed that up about two minutes later with a quick right-foot strike. She completed the trio of goals with a straight-on shot over the middle of the field that beat Van Wert's Grace Dowler on a diving save attempt.
As a team, Crestview continued to put the pressure on Dowler and the visiting Cougar defense all night long as they fired 41 shots on goal.
11 minutes into the second half, the Lady Cougars got their lone goal of the game when a slide tackle in the box allowed Jules McClure to convert a successful penalty kick.
From that point forward, the high-powered Crestview offense turned things up and took over.
Three minutes after Van Wert's goal, Addyson Dowler found the back of the net to bring the score to 4-1.
At the 15 minute mark, Addison Williman scored to begin a string of three goals in three minutes. Williman netted a ball at 15:46, followed by Castle's fourth of the game at 14:31 and Williman struck again at 13:38.
In addition to Williman's two goals, she also tallied two assists. Emily Karcher also saved three Van Wert shots.
The Lady Knights next game is on Saturday morning at Lima Senior, while the Lady Cougars open up WBL play on Tuesday evening against Celina.
