Lady Cougars fall at Ada

The visiting Van Wert girls soccer team lost at Ada 9-1 on Saturday morning in War Memorial Park Stadium.

The Cougar girls fell to 0-13 with the defeat.

The Bulldog girls improved to 5-7 overall with the non-league win that snapped a seven-match losing streak.

Ada raced to a 6-0 lead at halftime and cruised to the win.

Sophomore standout Ella Marshall poured in four goals to tie a program single-season record with 14 this year. She also dished out two assists.

Junior Olivia Burkhart doled out three assists to set the Ada girls season record with a dozen. She also scored a goal.

Ada sophomore Lexi Poling netted a pair of goals, while teammate Karmen Hall tallied one goal. Alyssa Nau added one assist.

Ella Badertscher, the only Bulldog senior on the team, was recognized before her next to last regular season home game. She netted her second career goal in the win.

Senior Catanna Saum scored the lone Cougar goal in half two on an assist from junior Sydney Dowler.

Hall and Poling combined for three saves in goal for Ada. VW had 19 saves between two keepers.

The Bulldogs out-shot the Cougars, 30-4.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-3 NWC) visit Spencerville (1-7-3, 0-3-1 NWC) on Monday.

The Cougar girls (0-7 WBL) visit Western Buckeye League foe Elida (7-4-3, 2-4-1 WBL) on Tuesday. They then host Ft. Jennings on Oct. 8 in a non-league game.
